However, in the early modern era, it comes to associate “海老（ebi=shrimp）” of the same sound, and you can receive the word “海老色”. Therefore, the color changed to the color of the shell of the shrimp.

However, there are times when the color of shrimp prawns are changed before boiling and after boiling, and the shade of prawns has a large range from “deep red purple” to “bright red brown”.

There is a theory that “Ebi-cha” is attached to the color name attached to the shrimp and there is also the theory that it has the same color as “Ebi-iro”, but here is a little more tea than the shrimp color.
